How to use Iphone without purchasing data plan?

A friend of mine is giving me his iphone because he got the I4. I was wondering if there is any way I could use the Iphone without purchasing the data plan. Thanks all.

Pretty sure there is no chance in hell you will be able to get past with no Data plan. As soon as you activate the iPhone on your account ATT's network will automatically add it to your account.
