MAC G3 How to Get an IDE/SATA HD Recognized - SCSI as Boot Drive?

I have a PowerPC (G3) running at 333 Mhz, OSX 10.2.8 with a Seagate ST318275LW for the boot drive (SCSI Interface). There is (what looks like) a standard IDE/ATA connector on the motherboard, but i can't get the computer to recognize the IDE/SATA HD.
