1st gen iphone screen blank and black for no reason help!?

For some reason today my iphone went blank and black has this ever happend to anyone before? If anyone knows how to fix this I really need help

Sometime a reset will cure this. Try to hold the top power button and Bottom home button at the same time for 20 seconds, release then press the power button.
